A few weeks ago, I had the dishonour of seeing one of my best pieces on the blog feed of someone else.
I did what you all you think I did. Trust me!
Ranting and plucking of virtual hairs et cetera.
And that's why I'm here, living my best life and doing what I love to do best, scribbling my thoughts on paper.
It's unfortunate that more than a handful of creatives have had to go through such an ugly experience.
Writing requires a certain level of trust.
To unveil one's heart and publish its contents, in all textures and colors, is nothing short of beautiful.
And frightful.
Trust is a currency paid in heart.
And it's no easy thing to have it shattered and thrown away.
Because like fragmented pottery pieces, once trust is broken, it's almost impossible to fix.
In life, we don't get do overs when people's hearts are broken or their faith in us is put on the line.
Relationships become almost animated.
Understanding stifled.
Most of us have had our trust broken and thrown out like chew toys.
Often by the ones we least expected it from.
Trust takes years to build, seconds to break, and forever to repair.
As little children, we loved relentlessly and unconditionally.
But as the climb into adulthood ensued, we learned to love and trust less and unavoidably, live less.
Like faucets, we were shut off from the inside. In a teeming rain storm.
Of recent, I had a very unfortunate falling out with a friend of mine.
Real messy.
We did not reconcile with smiling faces.
And even though there certainly was effort made, our relationship is not what it used to be.
I know what you're thinking!
What's the point of writing a newsletter on anything if it’s somewhat lacking in your own life?
Even the most infallible fall and I think it's the moment we realize this, that we come in possession of the tools we need to handle disappointments and betrayals in the future.
Trust is flying in a helium-filled balloon over your head.
Catch it. Hold it tight. Let's dissect it.
It'll be one hell of a ride.
My next two publications, I’ll be saying a few more words on Trust.
And after that, we'll head on over to the other stuff.
That being said, hope you're all being safe. And washing your hands!!
