After being in a shell for so long, coming out becomes a tug of war
Slippery vines, marmalade
Makes me want to stay
Centered in that box is comfort
I’ve been imprinted in the cushion
And resuming my normal routine usually becomes a serious chore
The good thing you’ll learn in any wilderness adventure is the importance of waiting. And it’s no fun.
Writing this reminds me of a scene from the latest Jumanji movie Next Level where one of the characters, Fudge, finds himself and the rest of his teammates in a desert. His weaknesses ironically enough included sand, heat and sun which you’ll agree is in is no short supply in the desert.
Usually, most of us get to be in situations where we feel stacked against the wall and very discouraged.
In this valley, you want out! You can’t breathe, you can’t stand or think straight but somehow you know you have to keep moving. Else, your progress will be in vein.
This is the mountain voyage and as long as we’re alive, we may have to go through it more times than we might like.
And the truth is, getting to the other side might mean getting rid of some of the quick fixes we’ve gotten accustomed to over time.
Because in this wilderness voyage, instant victory is not assured.
Instant happiness or success isn’t either. But one thing’s for sure, your victory will come. If you would hold on just a while longer.
Here’s what I learnt from my own wilderness voyage:
Nature cooks its strongest brew for its toughest soldiers
Don’t be discouraged by shortcomings. Keep pushing and stay consistent especially when you feel you can’t.
You will not always have it easy. Learn to accept it and if you must, in that hot, harsh desert, learn to eat your noodles cold.
Till next time,
yours intimately,
Sedo.
Sedo I love this! It’s short and still so beautiful. Sometimes I crave a wilderness adventure because with it, I tend to approach situations pragmatically and get my victory slowly. One thing is sure, the victory would come. Thank you for this!
Encouraging 💯, you seem to have the perfect words to say for each point you drive home... Keep brightening the corner where you are with your beautiful writings ❤️
